Why this one
Built around the one thing spreadsheets are bad at: keeping up.
Import that shows its work
Paste from Sheets or upload a CSV. Every ambiguous date — 3/4/2026 is two different days — is put in front of you rather than guessed.
Re-import without duplicates
When the sheet changes, import it again. You get a preview of what is new, what changed and what stayed the same, before anything is written.
Four views, one set of data
A grouped table that puts this week first, a month calendar, a plain list and a status board — the same assignments, sorted the way you happen to be thinking about them.
Colour-coded by class
Every course gets a colour that carries across all four views, the way your sheet already does it — without maintaining the conditional formatting.
Your data stays yours
CSV and .ics export are free and always will be. Cancelling the paid plan turns off automation, never your assignments.
How it goes
Four steps, about five minutes.
- 1Paste or uploadSelect the rows in your sheet, headers included, and paste. Or drop a CSV.
- 2Confirm the columnsWe guess what each column means. You correct anything that is wrong.
- 3Review the doubtful datesOnly the rows we could not read with confidence. Usually a handful, often none.
- 4See the preview, then importExactly what will be created and changed, listed row by row, before a single record is written.
What we will not do
- Ask for access to your Gmail, your LMS password or your Google account
- Let a language model decide when your work is due
- Hold your export hostage if you stop paying
- Claim we can read any syllabus PDF perfectly
Questions
Is the assignment tracker actually free?
Yes. The tracker, all four views, unlimited classes and assignments, importing with a full change preview and both exports are free and do not need an account. The optional Automation plan (free during the beta, $5/month after) adds scheduled email reminders, a live calendar feed that puts deadlines on your phone, and restoring from change history.
Do I need an account to use it?
No. Open the tracker, paste your sheet and work. The plan is stored in your browser. An account only matters when you want the same plan on your phone or want reminders sent to you.
Will it read my Google Sheet automatically?
No, and that is deliberate. StudyRows does not connect to your Google account. You copy the rows and paste them, or export a CSV. It means there is no permission to grant and nothing of yours we can reach on our own.
What happens when my professor moves a deadline?
Change the date in the tracker, or paste the updated sheet again. On a re-import you get a change preview first: new rows, changed dates and rows that did not change, listed separately. Nothing is duplicated and nothing is overwritten before you have seen it.
Does it sync with Canvas, Blackboard or Moodle?
No. Coursicle and several other free tools already do LMS sync well. StudyRows is for the work you keep yourself — the spreadsheet, the paper syllabus, the things your LMS never had.
Will my deadlines show up on my phone?
Yes. Install StudyRows on your home screen from the browser (no app store), and sign in so the same plan is on every device. With the Automation plan you can also subscribe to a live calendar feed, so deadlines sit in your phone's own calendar with an alert before each one.
Can I get my data out?
Any time, for free: a CSV that opens cleanly in Google Sheets and Excel, and an .ics calendar file for Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. Export is not a paid feature and will not become one.
